Ceramics Workshop

  • Leeszaal Rotterdam West Rijnhoutplein 3 3014 TZ, Rotterdam Netherlands (map)

When was the last time you felt hopeful about the future?

Life’s challenges can make us feel worried and distraught.

With global issues like the climate crisis, wars, and conflicts adding to the mix, hope often feels like a distant dream.

What does hope look like for you? What does it feel like?

How can clay help us confront our fears and express our hopes?

Can sharing experiences with others help us to imagine brighter futures for ourselves and our world?

During this workshop, we will explore these questions together through:

  • Becoming acquainted with the process of working with clay

  • Sharing reflections that connect us to the theme of hope

  • Connecting with both like-minded and diverse perspectives

  • Crafting your own ceramics piece! Would you like to have this fired for you to be able to bring it home? To anyone able to do so, Keramelien asks for a small donation. The piece would then be available to pick up from their studio on Benthemstraat a few days later.

If you find yourself in a difficult situation and the ticket cost is holding you back, please know that we have a few sponsored spots available for this ceramics workshop.

Please email us on hello.storiesforhope@gmail.com. We're happy to reserve one of these spots for you at no cost.

FAQs:

Who will lead the workshop? The workshop will be led by Jolien Van Oostende (NL) and Pilar del Amo Garcia (ES/NL) from Keramelien, and co-facilitated by Ruth Borg (MT/NL). Learn more about them here.

Do I need to have experience working with clay? Not at all! Clay is the creative medium we will use to explore the theme of hope. Our goal is to create a space where everybody feels welcome and safe to be whomever they are. Clay is medium through which it is really easy to express your feelings and gain some peace of mind. We will, of course, provide guidance along the way.

What can I expect? Guided by experienced facilitators, you'll explore hope through writing and other creative exercises. You'll also have the opportunity to engage in conversation with fellow participants.

Will there be snacks? Of course! Refreshments and snacks will be provided to keep you feeling nourished during our exploration of hope.
